Tattoo Apprenticeship Program

At Glory & Gore we truly believe in sharing education and knowledge within the body modification industry. With the opening of our new location, we have intentionally created space to expand our team and share our knowledge at the same time. With this, we are happy to announce that we have availability to bring on 2 Tattoo Apprentices. Like everything we do, this process is going to be really intentional. We want to find the right people for this placement because we want these people to succeed.

Quick view of what you will learn as an Apprentice:

Technical Application: Fundamentals and Foundation to Technical Application (across several styles)

Art: Art Theory and Adaptation to Tattooing

Safety: Understanding Safety and Health and how it relates to each part of the tattoo process

Business: Growing your tattoo business

Customer Service: How to guide your Clients and customize the service to them

And so much more…

What we are looking for in an Apprentice:

Must be 18 years or older for licensing purposes

A minimum of 2 year commitment with the goal of spending full time hours at the Studio consistently

A strong passion and dedication for tattooing, art, and building your craft

A strong work ethic and individual drive

Have reliable transportation

Someone who wants to build a consistent full time career

Willingness to do all parts of the industry (Daily cleaning, business building, weekly assignments, social media, etc)

***Please note***

We are not interested in seeing ANY at home tattoo work. It is not considered a ‘head start’ but is actually seen as a hinderance. Working with machines at home can lead to having to break bad habits before building new ones. If you have been tattooing at home (whether on real or fake skin), a non negotiable stipulation to accepting this apprenticeship is that you stop all at home work and you dispose of any at home equipment immediately (it will not be used in studio for quality and sanitary reasons). If this isn’t something you are committed to or have a problem with, we are not interested in receiving your application.

How to apply:

1) Fill out the Google Forms Application here:

Tattoo Apprenticeship Application

Be thoughtful and in depth with your answers. The amount of work you put in your answers and what you’re communicating to us shows us the amount of work you’ll put into the apprenticeship.

2) Email 5 portfolio photos of your own artwork to glorygorestudio@gmail.com with “Your Name - Apprenticeship Application Photos” as the title

3) If we feel like you might be a good fit, you’ll receive an email to schedule an interview

4) For the interview, we would like you to:

  • Bring a full physical portfolio of your art work and be prepared for critiques.

    • What you put together and how you put it together will show us a lot so we are intentionally not putting any more direction on what we are looking for in the portfolio.

  • Be able to ask us questions

    • Just as much as we want to make sure you’re a good fit for us, we want you to make sure we are a good fit for you.

5) Interview follow ups and offers. We are hoping to bring 2 people on tandem in July to be able to work together on assignments and to build momentum with growth.

Note from Saraya:

Hello!

I am very excited to be offering this opportunity to someone (or two someone’s I should say) in the community. Growing up in Alaska, there weren't many options for finding an apprenticeship. It always felt like it was all about who you knew and what you would be willing to put up with. Even then, there was no guarantee to being taught anything useful or graduating. That isn’t the way that I believe this industry should be. I’m not here to play games with someone’s future, and I’m not here to ‘teach people enough so I can make money off of them’. I’m here to build quality artists that want to do good work and treat people well. I want to do this for someone wanting to build a career in this industry as well as offer more quality and safe services for the community. To me, hard work and drive show a lot more than raw talent. I’m not expecting the best, but I am expecting people to put in a lot of work because that is what their future clients and this industry deserve. I’m dedicated to using my knowledge and resources in investing into someone’s future, now I’m looking for someone who will be willing to do the same for themselves.
